Special FX Lights King Tut

The King Tut Exhibit, which opened at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA in February, exclusively features Special FX Lighting's custom manufactured permanent color products. Lighting designer Rick Belzer specified Special FX Lighting's FadeNot XFilm high temperature gel, and Special FX color coated PAR 38s to add depth and drama to the exhibit.

Although he has been specifying Special FX products for over 10 years, Belzer comments that this is the first exhibit he's done using only FX Lighting's products. "I like the fact that for my application the FadeNot gel products are virtually maintenance free," he adds.

"Special FX also custom coated 90W PAR38 lamps to match my specified colors", Belzer explains. "They can match any gel color you want, and they have a proprietary high temperature coating process they can apply to the bulb so you're not trying to gel a fixture that wasn't meant to be gelled. Their customer service is also fantastic, they have never missed a deadline."

The exhibition includes 50 major objects excavated from Tutankhamun's tomb, and and 80 objects from the valley of the King Ancestors, most of which has never been seen before in the United States. It will be at the Franklin Institute until September 30, 2007.
