Racing Extinction At St. Peter's Basilica

With the blessing of Pope Francis, who earlier this year, urged the world to address climate change, "Fiat Lux" took over St. Peter's Square in the Vatican on December 8. The display was last event on the opening day of The Jubilee of Mercy and was timed to coincide with the final days of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference or COP21. Images of endangered species and degraded habitats were projected onto St. Peter's Basilica to shed more light on the environmental issues the world is currently facing. Among the event's collaborators were Louie Psihoyos, director of the eye-opening documentary Racing Extinction, and Travis Threlkel of Obscura Digital, who also handled the projection and design of Projecting Change, which played across the facade of the Empire State Building on August 1.
