When Swedish Film (SF) decided to build the most inventive and modern cinema complex in Europe, Filmstaden Bergakungen in Gothenburg, they also wanted a restaurant, bar, and café that would be attractions themselves, not just a complement to the cinema. With that in mind, SF teamed with Primetec AB and concept developer Stylt Trampoli to create Danilo restaurant, bar, and café where a Medialon ManagerV4 Lite orchestrates lights, sound, and moving images.
Medialon serves as the control system for all media playback and all lighting in various locations and it also handles input from motion detectors. “We have had a very good experience with Medialon,” says Mikael Strömberg, project manager at Primetec AB. In addition, “The Lite version, together with com port servers and ADAM 6050 digital I/O modules, is a very cost-effective solution.” Medialon’s user-friendly GUI is also a key feature. “We wanted to make the system as easy as possible for the staff to use,” Strömberg emphasizes.
Danilo is Sweden’s first restaurant, bar, and café fully-integrated into a movie theatre complex. Filmstaden Bergakungen is a 10,000-square-meter movieplex with 14 theaters, digital lobbies, and a VIP lounge.
The show-control system controls a host of equipment, including four Comm-tec pro players, five Sanyo PLC-XU50 projectors, 10 Marshall 4-inch LCD screens, two Sharp Aquos 32-inch LCD screens, a Pioneer 42-inch plasma screen, Enttec DMX playback with remote, four Bose FreeSpace 3 systems, a Cloud Z4 zonemixer, and a Moxa 5610 16-channel RS232.
Primetec AB implemented numerous LED lights for Danilo as well as conventional downlights over dimmers controlled by a DMX playback unit. Media playback for the Sanyo projectors, the Marshall 4-inch LCD screens and Pioneer plasma screen comes from MPG players. Everything is controlled by a Medialon V4 Lite and touchscreen.
