Mapping For Oda A Nuestro Son (Ode To Our Groove)

Voted best cultural event of 2011 of Puerto Rico by Luis Dávila Colón of El Vocero, Oda A Nuestro Son (Ode To Our Groove) was created by projection designer Anaitté Vaccaro and commissioned by the Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico and the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR) as part of the celebration of La Campechada, the weekend festival celebrating the 18th century Puerto Rican painter José Campeche.

"The animation was an artistic representation of the history of Puerto Rico from its origins to the present, intertwining imagery from Campeche's work," says Vacarro of her projection mapping onto the historical Puerto Rico monument Castillo San Felipe del Morro.

The mapping used 14 Sanyo PLC-HF15000 projectors with 1.2:1 lenses, 12 Barco ImagePRO and five ImagePRO HD processors, two Analog Way Di-VentiX I mixer/scaler/switcher, and five Apple Mac Pro Servers with eight cores and running Renewed Vision’s ProVideoPlayer. Animation was created using Autodesk Maya, RealFlow, and Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection.
