Levy Lighting NYC Illuminates Harry Potter

Levy Lighting NYC added spice to Manhattan’s principal site for the book launch of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows recently as more than 7,000 people attended the “Midnight Magic Costume Party” at the Union Square Barnes & Noble, the world’s largest costume party. “It was exciting to be a part of this historic book launch. The store was swarming with people—the atmosphere was exhilarating,” says Ira Levy, president of Levy Lighting.

On all floors, glowing light poles added whimsical intensity and mystery befitting the book. The castle’s eerie caste was achieved with strong white Pronto wireless LED lights. LED candles suspended from the ceiling set the mood for sparkling, magical fun in the wand-making area. “Short set-up time, the need for a clean installation and the lack of electrical outlets where you need them, demanded wireless lights. Pronto lights were the perfect answer,” says Levy. Ice blue LED color added suspense to a special reading by Jim Dale, narrator of Harry Potter audiobooks.

The event designer at the Union Square store was Vivia Costalas of Floris Special Events with lighting by Levy Lighting NYC and audio by Scharff Weisberg.
